Many people would like to go to college, and some even have dreams of getting into a prestigious university one day. There are schools that have high acceptance rates, but there are also many colleges and universities that do not accept everyone who files for college application. Most universities are selective causing not many students are able to get in.
With an alarming cost of tuition that comes with high cost of room and board, these universities have an extensive waiting list of students wanting to enroll. These universities are known for their finest and exceptional standards, which in return they want their students to be the greatest of all as well. Students who want to belong to this group should show great interest and excellence in all areas.
The number one on this list is Harvard University, which actually rejects a full 94 percent of all student applications. As of 2010 – 2011, the number of students only reached 19,400. The privileged ones who got accepted will have to compensate the tuition rate and fee of over $40,000 every year.
Next comes in at number two and three spots are Stanford University and Yale University respectively, which both actually accepts only 8 percent of college applications. Stanford University tuition rate and fees is nearly $40,000, with only 18,500 students enrolled. On the other hand, Yale University tuition rate and fees are about $38,000, with only 12,000 students accepted.
On the fourth place enters Columbia University, which is actually the largest of any school in the top 10 with nearly 25,000 students. However, they reject a full 90 percent of college applications obtained. Tuition rate and fees is estimated as $43,000 every year.
Princeton University also rejects 90 percent of college applications received. With an annual tuition rate and fees of $38,000, only 7,600 students are enrolled.
Brown University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology takes the sixth and seventh places. Both universities reject a full 89 percent of college applications. Brown University has only 8,500 students, while MIT has a little over 10,000 students. Brown University tuition rate and fees is about $40,000, and MIT tuition rate and fees is nearly $38,000 annually.
Dartmouth College comes in number eight, with an acceptance rate of only 13 percent of all student applications. It is still just half as hard to get into as in Harvard University. Tuition rate and fees is over $40,000 annually, with just 6,000 enrolled students.
California Institute of Technology is at number nine. There are only 2,100 students, since they reject a full 85 percent of the total student applications. Tuition rate and fees is about $36,000 per year. Meanwhile Duke University is at number ten that only accepts 19 percent of the student applications, with only 14,000 students. Tuition rates and fees exceed to $40,000 every year.
These colleges tend to change each and every year, but not by much. While a school is hard to get into, it doesn’t’ mean you can’t get into. If you really want to try, read into tips to find what works for you. What you’re going to want to do is research the college itself, and find out people got in there themselves.
